Grantee: Green Jobs Alliance
Amount: $1million total to Hampton Roads area via the Green Jobs Alliance
Term: 2 years

Purpose:
To establish a Weatherization Training Center in the Hampton Roads region and train 410 unemployed, underemployed and disadvantaged constituencies in weatherization skills, which include energy auditing, energy efficiency, and Building Performance Institute certifications.  Trained individuals will be able to work for Community Action agencies, area contractors, or labor organizations.
Economic Impact:
Employment of 410 people at $12 to $25 per hour will provide an annual area payroll of $10,233,600 to $21,320,000.
Additional Comments:
This grant provides an opportunity for the Green Jobs Alliance—through working with its partners—to create the long-term infrastructure that will create energy efficiency and renewable energy industry jobs in the Hampton Roads area. Outreach and recruitment efforts, combined with education and training, will lead to job placement and retention for thousands of workers in weatherization assistance, offshore wind and solar manufacturing, biodiesel and biomass development , and other forms of alternative energy as we move toward a Clean Energy Economy.
